DeSTEMber Saturdays

When: Saturdays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Continues through Dec. 22 2018

Dec. 1: Do You Want to Build a...
...snowman, ice castle, gingerbread house? Get busy building and help us kick off De-STEM-ber to Remember constructing gingerbread houses, engineering snow forts and designing a solution to help Santa’s sled get off the ground.

Dec. 8: Sounds Like STEM
Enjoy the sounds of the season and explore the science of sound and all the ways we sense it in RMSC’s newest exhibition SoundSense. Tune in to making instruments, try your hand at the jingle bell challenge, sing-along with Electricity Theater’s Carol with the Coils and meet musicians from across our community.

Dec. 15: Polar Explorers
From North to South, explore what makes the polar regions of our planet so unique. What survives (and thrives!) in a frozen world blanketed by snow and ice? Why can’t polar bears and penguins be friends? Learn about the tundra, polar ice caps and explore the power of the magnetic poles and how our Earth acts a big magnet.

Dec. 22: Winter Solstice Celebration
The second day of the winter season marked the longest night and the shortest day of the year. Celebrate the return of the sun and explore the science of the new season! Get up close with snowflakes, paint with ice crystals, stay cool with fake snow, design catapults for launching snowballs and more.
