Beyond Sound: Sign Language Poetry & Wordplay

When: Sat., April 15, 1:30-3 p.m.

How do you rhyme in sign language? Can you create puns with just your hands? In this workshop with Eric Epstein of signplaying.com, you will learn how sign language has many different types of wordplay and see the poetry of Dr. Seuss, Emily Dickinson, and Shakespeare conveyed in sign language. This session is led by a Deaf poet and will be voiced in English; ASL interpretation will be provided. No prior knowledge of sign language is needed. This event is offered in concert with the NEA Big Read.
