DANCE | 'Stravinsky/Bowie'

by

The Rochester City Ballet will close the 2017-18 season with "Stravinsky/Bowie," a melding of "Rite of Spring" and "Under the Moonlight," two differing programs developed by RCB artistic director David Palmer. This will be the first time "Rite of Spring" has been performed in Rochester (it was originally developed by Palmer and co-choreographer Yanis Pikieris for Miami's Maximum Dance in 2005), though many are familiar with what is arguably composer Igor Stravinsky's most famous work. "Under the Moonlight," a tribute to David Bowie, returns after breaking RCB's attendance records when it debuted in May 2016.

"Stravinsky/Bowie" will be performed at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at Nazareth Arts Center, 4245 East Avenue. Tickets start at $37 ($10 student rush tickets available one hour before shows). rochestercityballet.com.
