Rochester artist Valerie Berner's latest exhibit, "Acrylic Acuity," is open for its final week at the Geisel Gallery. Berner's solo exhibition features acrylic paintings of swamp, desert, ocean, and forest settings, but each piece is left open to interpretation through the juxtaposition of sharp, thick lines and bold colors with each painting's unstructured mood. Berner offers endless perspectives that invite audience engagement and consideration rather than imagery that suggests a specific concept. In a provided statement, Berner says, "With visual clarity as a starting point, the imagination can expand infinitely. I aim for my compositions to allow for interpretation on many levels — individually, collectively, objectively, and subjectively."
"Acrylic Acuity" will be on exhibit through Wednesday, August 30, at Geisel Gallery (1 Bausch and Lomb Place). Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit valerieberner.com.
